PostSubject: 9-30-08 Raid recap (unplanned)   Tue Sep 30, 2008 11:17 pm

Today we went on a raid to BT. Tankwarning got to show off his new donor sword and shield. Unfortunately, we still had to call in some outside help for DPS, but hopefully as we get new recruits, we can do pure guild raids in the near future.

Boss list was Supremus, Mother Sharaz, the Council and Illidan. No serious problems occured, except several DPS players died (some on more than one occasion... ***) and Tankwarning's gloves broke towards the end of Illidan. One PUG player had to be kicked for being AFK, but somehow wasn't teleported from the instance and began to attack Illidan towards the end of the fight. Thanks for the help, but next time, don't just sit there while we fight. Razz

***: A note on dying: a lot of these deaths were preventable! Please note that it costs a priest ~2300 mana for a single rez (roughly 1/5th of my mana, and I'm full T6) and the cost goes up for other classes (including druids, who can only do it once every 20 minutes!) So it is not prudent for healers to have to res two or three players on a single trash bypass run. Sometimes it is not even possible for the healer to reach the player safely, and next time, the tank may be unwilling to fend off trash mobs while we rez someone who arguably should not have died. How can you avoid dying?
  • On all trash bypass runs, after mounting up, CLICK on the tank and follow him, i.e. type /follow and press enter
  • Always stay behind the tank
  • If you are passing a mob and do not wish to pull aggro, hold tightly to the wall closest to where you are going and furthest away from the mob.
  • If you find yourself being attacked, stop attacking, defend yourself as best you can (self-healing, protection bubble, etc...) and call for help
  • If you know you are going to die, make a run towards the group and try to die as close to the healers as possible and as far away from trash as possible. Make a clear path for a rezzer to find you. Also, do not release your corpse - the floating green text is a great beacon.

At the end of the raid, some guild members put together an informal raid to Hyjal. No word yet on the success of that.

As an added note, six Netherweave Bags (16 slot) were added to the Guild Bank's "Gear" tab as a result of Zabbimarru's generous contribution of Netherweave Cloth. Thanks, zab!
